I’m Dakotah, and here is bit more about me. When I was Five my parents got a divorce, and then my mom met Bill, I mean he came to fix the plumbing in our toilet, even though he doesn’t like plumbing. Later they started dating, and we learned he doesn’t like plumbing, so it was kinda ironic if you ask me. at this time my grandma was also living in a trailer on our property, to help take care of me and my brother.  At the age of nine I had gotten really angry, but I cooled down and I’m much better mentally now, yay!  Mental health is very important to me. At the age of ten I picked up crocheting and it really helped me with mental health, because it’s so relaxing, and it’s fun to watch stuff while I do it! I recommend your favorite shows to watch while doing it.  when I turned eleven I had gotten a pony her name as Joy she then had to be put down because the had broken her leg. That was a shock, but flukes unfortunately happen. At the age of twelve My stepbrother moved in about two weeks after my birthday, and he was getting into the flow of things, so it was a little awkward, but it’s not awkward anymore thankfully. I had a Valentine this year, it was fun. I also do Jiu-Jitsu, but that is a story for another day.

How I got into crochet

You would probably like to know how I got into crochet in the first place. I mean not everyday do you see someone that started crocheting at ten that didn’t have their grandma or mother teach them how to crochet. When I was younger we had an airbnb, and a guest was crocheting on our porch one afternoon and I asked if she would be willing to teach me. She said yes and then my crochet journey began. She was a great and patient teacher. She kickstarted it and now I am designing my own patterns and watching Youtube tutorials to learn new patterns. I am so grateful I got to meet her, otherwise who knows if I would have even known about crochet. There are so many pros to picking up crochet and only one con (in my opinion) that is easily fixable, that con is carpool tunnel or other injuries that you can get in your wrist or hands and possibly your elbows happen when you don’t listen to your body and push over your wrists limits and end up injuring yourself. Remember to take breaks and listen to your body. Don’t take on big projects if you don’t think you have enough time to get them done and listen to your body at the same time!

One of my favorite hobbies

One of my favorite hobbies of mine is crocheting! Crocheting has been around since the 1800s, and it evolved from older techniques called “Tambouring” and “Nålbinding.” I like crochet a lot because it can make basically anything, such as plushies or useful items like coasters or cup cozies. Crocheting is a peaceful hobby for me, and it is great to watch my favorite shows while I do it! I was ten when I learned the basics of crochet and I went to work making things left and right, it felt amazing! I quickly started growing a huge stash of yarn, but I was going through it just as fast. With every big burst of motivation there is a downfall. I had gotten sick with a bacterial infection in my tonsils that completely destroyed my crochet frenzy, but I eventually got my motivation back after almost a year! If you crochet and are in a motivation slump, just remember that it will come back.
